This policy covers the DiaperPal app for iPhone and the DiaperPal website at diaperpal.net. Both help people find and log changing stations. We collect as little as we can, and we do not sell any of it.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use DiaperPal, we may collect:
Your location, only while you are using the app or website and only if you allow it, to show changing stations near you. The app asks at the moment it needs it, and declining never blocks anything. The map still works without it.
Rounded search locations. When the map loads around a place, we record that place rounded to about a kilometer, along with how many stations were found and the type of device or browser. This tells us where coverage is missing. No identifier is attached.
What you log. The venue, the station details, any note you write, and an optional photo.
Your name and email, only if you choose to give them. Both are optional, as is the question after a log about how you heard of DiaperPal. If you share an email, we use it to tell you when your log goes live.
A contributor identifier. The app, or your browser on the website, creates a random identifier the first time you log a station, so your logs can be grouped together. It is not connected to your Apple ID, your name, or any device identifier. Deleting the app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, removes it.
Your location at the time you log a station, and how accurate that fix was, if you have allowed location access. We use it to check that a log came from near the venue. Granting location is never required to log.
Your IP address and device or browser type when you log a station, to keep spam out of the review queue.
Anonymous usage events. A tap on Directions is recorded with the venue, the type of device or browser, a shortened one-way hash of your IP address, and, in the app, your location rounded to about a kilometer if you have allowed location access. Whether the app was opened again some time after a Directions tap is recorded as the venue and the elapsed minutes, with nothing else attached.
Website analytics. The website uses Vercel Analytics to count page views and taps on buttons such as the App Store links, by device type and general region. The app does not include any analytics software.
Crash and error reports. If your iPhone is set to share crash data with developers, Apple sends us crash reports for the app. Our servers use Sentry to record errors, which can include an IP address and the details of the request that failed.

3. Location Data
Location is used only while DiaperPal is open, to find stations near you. It is processed in real time and is not stored unless you log a station, in which case your location at that moment is saved with the log as described above. You can turn location access off at any time in your device settings, and the app keeps working with the map centered on a default area or a place you search.
4. Photos and Camera
The app asks for camera access only when you choose to photograph a changing station you are logging. Choosing a photo from your library uses the system photo picker, which does not give the app access to your other photos. A photo is always optional. Photos you submit are stored privately until a reviewer approves the log, and are deleted if the log is rejected.
5. Logging a Station and Review
Everything you log goes into a private review queue and is not published automatically. A reviewer approves it before any venue, station, note, or photo appears on the public map. If a log is rejected, its photo is deleted. The log record itself, without the photo, may be kept so we can understand and improve the process.
Once approved, the station details, your note, and your photo become publicly visible to other people using DiaperPal. Your name and email are never shown publicly. Please do not include personal information in a note.
6. Service Providers
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the services that run DiaperPal:
Apple: the App Store, crash reports if you have opted in, and Apple Maps. When you tap Directions, the app hands the venue's name and location to Apple Maps, and Apple's privacy policy applies from there.
Google: the Places service, used to look up venues when you log a station, and to show venue hours and a venue photo.
Mapbox: map tiles on the website. The app uses Apple's built-in maps instead.
Supabase: data storage.
Vercel: hosting, and analytics on the website.
Resend: sending the email that tells you a log went live, if you gave an email.
Sentry: error monitoring for our servers.
Anyone we are required to share with by law, or to protect our rights.
7. Keeping and Deleting Your Information
Approved stations stay on the map so other people can find them. If you want a log, a photo, a note, or your email removed, contact us at the address below and we will take care of it. Deleting the app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, removes the contributor identifier and any saved name or email from your device.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections everywhere. No internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
DiaperPal is made for caregivers. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
10. Your Rights (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) you have the right to request disclosure of the personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of your personal information. 11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
